Building Data Sets of Blue Whale Sightings

Gardline MMOs complete Blue Whale survey off the Southern Coast of Sri Lanka during the southwest monsoon season.

Currently, little data is available on blue whales in the southern coast region of Sri Lanka. Gardline Marine Mammal Observers have completed a new survey of the region, identifying 37 individual blue whales. Grace Russell, Marcus Bridge and Maja Nimak-Wood present their poster presentation on the survey, which will be showcased at the World Marine Mammal Conference in Barcelona this year.
