As a large employer, the career opportunities we offer – together with our broader economic footprint – have a positive impact in the local community. Great Yarmouth ranks highly among England’s most income-deprived areas with a third of the town’s neighbourhoods most affected. Through a range of social responsibility activities, Gardline supports the local community on several fronts.
Contributing to our community
In 2024, we established the Gardine Community & Charitable Giving Fund which enables employees to nominate local causes to support through fundraising initiatives. So far we have raised money for a number of important organisations, including:
The Vault Social Enterprise
An organisation which provides a safe space for young adults to socialise, build their confidence and learn new, employable skills (including barista training, podcasting, and graphic design). Its work helps create valuable employment opportunities in the local area.
Freshly Greated
A community-led Arts Council-funded project which is part of the national flagship Creative People and Places programme.
Heart2Heart Norfolk
A local charity dedicated to improving heart health and raising awareness about cardio- vascular diseases within the Norfolk community. Gardline also organises an annual beach clean- up, supported by Norfolk Beach Cleans, and makes regular donations to the community’s food banks.
Centre81
Centre 81 is dedicated to supporting disabled individuals and those who care for them. The organisation has been a vital resource for over 40 years, providing a Skills and Activities Centre that serves as a lifeline for its members. Centre 81 aims to create a fun and inclusive environment where members can meet, relax, and engage in a variety of stimulating activities.
