Boskalis acquires large Dutch infrastructure contract in a consortium

Papendrecht, 12 November 2012 Rijkswaterstaat, the executive arm of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, announced its intention today to grant a sizable project for the reconstruction, widening and maintenance of the A1 and A6 motorway to a consortium consisting of Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V., VolkerWessels, HOCHTIEF and DIF. This DBFM (Design, Build, Finance, Maintain) contract is the first part of the road expansion program Schiphol Airport-Amsterdam-Almere (project SAA A1/A6). The contract represents a value of more than EUR 1 billion of which Boskalis' share is 30%. Peter Berdowski, CEO Boskalis:
"We are very pleased with this sizable DBFM contract. Following the acquisition of MNO Vervat late last year, we are now well positioned to play an important role in such large infra projects in the Netherlands." The project involves the design, realization and financing as well as the 30-year maintenance of the existing and new infrastructure between intersection Diemen (A1) and Almere Havendreef (A6). Rijkswaterstaat expects to formally award the project by the end of November 2012 and SAAone expects to complete the financial close early 2013. The SAAone consortium consist of Boskalis, VolkerWessels, HOCHTIEF and DIF. The construction activities will be contracted by SAAone and executed by a construction consortium consisting of Boskalis (30%), VolkerWessels (35%) and HOCHTIEF (35%).
