Royal Boskalis Westminster nv hereby announces that its wholly owned subsidiary Zinkcon Marine (Singapore) Pte Ltd has been awarded a contract from Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd for the expansion of Pipavav port in India. The contract value is 40 million and the work is scheduled to be completed by mid 2009.
Pipavav Port is an existing container port which is expanding its handling capacity by increasing berth capacity as well as allowing larger vessels to approach. The assignment includes the dredging of new berth pockets, turning and departure basins and an access channel and will be executed with a jumbo cutter suction dredger.
The market in which Boskalis operates is driven by long-term factors, such as increases in the global population, the growth of the global economy and international trade volumes and the developments on the energy markets. Boskalis can successfully capitalize on these developments through its global presence and its selective contracting policy. In addition, this project in India fits in with the positioning of Boskalis in the emerging BRIC markets (Brazil, Russia, India and China).
