Boskalis wins 500 million LNG project in Australia

Papendrecht, 16 October 2009

Boskalis Australia, a subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has been awarded the contract for the construction of a port for the Gorgon LNG project off the coast of Western Australia. The contract value is approximately  500 million and was awarded by Chevron Australia Pty Ltd in cooperation with Kellogg Joint Venture - Gorgon. Work is set to commence early 2010 and it is due to be completed by the end of 2011.

The project includes the design and construct of a port including a Material Offloading Facility at Barrow Island, 50km northwest off the coast of Western Australia. Various dredging & marine contracting activities will be constructed under the responsibility of Boskalis. A roll-on-roll-off facility will be constructed in addition to 200 meters of quay walls and mooring dolphins. Furthermore, Boskalis has been assigned the logistical and program management responsibility for part of the basic infrastructure. The project will be executed with a combination of a jumbo cutter, a large hopper and backhoes.

Peter Berdowski, CEO: "I am delighted that Chevron has awarded this contract to Boskalis. This project fits well within our strategic focus on the oil and gas market segment and our expansion into marine contracting activities. After having worked intensively with the client in an "early contractor involvement" capacity, we look forward to making a significant contribution to the Gorgon development."

The Boskalis strategy is designed to benefit from the key macro-economic drivers that are fueling global demand in our selected markets: global trade, increasing energy consumption, expanding population pressures and the challenges of changing climate conditions.
Large scale projects such as Gorgon LNG reinforce the requirement for infrastructure to accommodate the strong demand for energy resources.
