Make your mark as part of our Surveyor internship at Gardline!

We are looking for student Surveyors to undertake a 12-month placement to support the acquisition, processing and QC of survey data and the preparation of associated reports and deliverables.
Project types range from traditional site survey work to large scale offshore renewable developments. These can include specific surveys aimed at potential UXO threats, or cable route aspects of large developments.

Data is acquired by our fleet of multi-role survey vessels. On board, as part of a team of Surveyors you will be responsible for the acquisition, QC and processing of survey data acquired by our integrated navigation software suite. Back in our office in Great Yarmouth, you will have the opportunity to help with further processing, QC, reporting and creating deliverables providing plenty of opportunities to learn and gain valuable workplace experience.

Whilst the position will be based at our offices in Great Yarmouth it also provides the opportunity to gain valuable offshore experience with an expectation of completing up to 180 days offshore during the internship period. You will need to have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the internship and be available when your 2nd year of university is complete.

Full training will be provided with this placement, offering skills to build upon after graduation.

 

 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Undertake the acquisition of survey data using our proprietary software.
  • Undertake processing and QC of survey data.
  • Learn how to evaluate and process multibeam data using industry standard software.
  • Gain an understanding of hardware and software systems on our vessels.
  • Support our office and field teams in a variety of survey activities including drydocks, mobilisations and calibrations.

 

 

Your Qualities:

You can make your mark as part of our Surveyor internship if you have:

  • Enthusiasm, ingenuity and personal drive.
  • Currently studying a relevant degree.
  • Have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the placement.
  • General understanding of the marine survey industry.
  • Any prior knowledge of GNSS, MBES, Acoustic theory, Tidal theory or geodesy would be advantageous.
  • Team spirit and collaborative work ethic.

Extra Information:

  • A full drivers’ license would be advantageous.
  • Where you will work: Prospect House, Gapton Hall Industrial Estate, Great Yarmouth.
  • Full-time job: The position of Year in Industry is 37.5 hours per week in the office (12 hour days when offshore).
