We have an exciting opportunity for a Source Mechanic to join our busy offshore survey team where you will be responsible for the configuration, operation, and maintenance of seismic source equipment including high pressure air guns, hydraulic systems, lifting and towing appliances, cables, buoys, and ropes. Duties also include planning and executing maintenance programs for seismic source, mechanical, hydraulic and rigging equipment on board the vessels and at company HQ when required.

This is a seagoing role, with an expectation of completing circa 180 days offshore per calendar year.  Previous experience in a similar environment would be advantageous.

 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the maintenance, repair, and management of the seismic source equipment which includes sleeve gun arrays, TI mini air guns, mini G-Sources with various configurations, and other similar equipment.
  • Regular mechanical maintenance of winches, HP air supply, gun frames, electrical connections, and compressor maintenance and repair.
  • Timely preparation of equipment needed for projects, guaranteeing they are ready to meet established mobilsation deadlines.
  • Lead the deployments of seismic sources and ancillary equipment.
  • Assistance across diverse tasks as instructed, to effectively support the needs of the Geophysical Engineering Department.
  • Maintain sufficient stock of necessary spare parts and test equipment for seamless operations.
  • Compile, complete, and store all necessary maintenance documentation, including job cards, etc.
  • Report on any issues related to missing or faulty equipment relevant to Gardline.
  • Ensure the organization and cleanliness of your workspace, including tools, spare parts, and test equipment.

 

Your Qualities:

You can make your mark as a source mechanic if you have:

  • Engineering apprenticeship or a higher certificate in mechanical engineering discipline, or time served (3 years) in a relevant engineering role.
  • Practical and safe working knowledge in the following engineering disciplines: Electronic, Hydraulic and Mechanical.
  • Experience in working with offshore geophysical equipment or, have previously operated in a mechanical engineering environment.
  • Experience with inventory management systems.
  • Experience working with high pressure air systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suites.
  • Holds (or medically able to attain) an ENG1 and is fit to work offshore

Extra Information:

  • Where you will work: This is an offshore position, meaning you will work worldwide onboard Gardline vessels, so there is no requirement to relocate!
  • Fulltime/ part-time job: The position of function is a fulltime role, working 12 hour shifts whilst offshore.
